Baotou, the largest industrial city in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, seeks to boost the prestige of its aviation industry with drones, also known as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), reports Baotou Daily.

Boying General Aviation Technology Co, which is based in Baotou Rare Earth Hi-tech Zone, has received orders for 30 drones since July. The company is expected to produce more than 600 drones in the near future.

The R&D and production of drones represent the main activities of the company. Most of the members of the core teams in the company are graduates of Tsinghua University and Beijing Institute of Technology, two of the top universities in China.

Earlier in 2016, Boying General Aviation Technology Co completed preparations for manufacturing drones, all of which can be widely used in agriculture, exploration of land and resources, patrolling borders, data collection and aerial photography.
