Zhangjiagang held its first zodiac stamp exhibition on Jan 5, showcasing China’s culture through various stamps.
According to Cao Qixin, deputy secretary-general of the Zhangjiagang Philately Association, the exhibition displayed 16 stamp collections totaling 51 stamps, including all the zodiac stamps from 1980.
Cao said that the exhibition aimed to attract public attention to traditional Chinese culture. Stamps, similar to an encyclopedia, cover various topics that people can study. Pictures of stamps are an art and culture, so people can research stamps that they are interested in.
The distinctive exhibition also evoked memories of the past. A woman surnamed Li took her son to the exhibition to show him stamps, which are becoming increasingly rare in the electronic age.
