Fireman proud to keep others safe

Xiao Yong, a 28-year-old fireman in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu province, said he worked all seven days of the Spring Festival.

Like many others working in the public sector, most years have been the same since becoming a fireman in 2008.

Xiao received six fire reports during the holiday, all caused from burning fireworks.

Xiao said he is OK with staying on duty while most other people are able to take a break and enjoy the traditional holiday festivities.

"I do miss my parents, but it is my duty to guard people's safety," he said.
