Mass wedding ceremony brings in couples by the dozens

When the FAW Group, the massive vehicle manufacturer in the city of Changchun, Jilin province, announced that it would hold a huge public wedding ceremony mainly for company employees, on May 28, it had almost 400 couples showing up to tie the knot together.
There were row upon row of couples, dressed in red Chinese dresses and mandarin jackets, assembling at Changchun's International Automobile Park for their big day and, in the words of Zhang Dongmei, the organizer who is also a FAW trade union member, "We do have massive large number of new employees each year, and this ceremony gives new couples a sense of belongings".
FAW Group has held this wedding event five times now, starting in 2011, but this one set a record for the number of participants, two of whom -- Yang Xiaomin, who married Li Zhiping, both of them FAW employees – seemed to sum it up by saying, "We feel really honored to be part of this wedding, and to join our colleagues together for this joyful moment."
