As one of the country’s first batch of city-level exchange centers approved by the State Council, Weifang Culture Asset and Equity Exchange Center joined hands with local company Weiming Venture Science and Technology Co, to set up the Yanyuan Oriental Culture Exchange Platform as part of an agreement signed on Aug 21.

The platform was created to facilitate the transactions of stamps, coins, cards, gem and jade jewelry, paintings and calligraphy collections, and film and TV copyright.

Among the platform’s functions includes a section allowing the online trading of stamp, coins and IC card collections; information regarding news releases, appraisals and identification; and deposit services.

The platform’s gem and jade jewelry exchange is the first online transaction platform of its kind in China. It takes advantages of the gem resources in Weifang’s Changle county - which has been dubbed as the “Gem City of China” - to integrate online and offline trading and promote the local gem and jade jewelry industry.

The platform also provides an online trading service for paintings and calligraphy works. Painters will be invited to develop new products through innovative ideas and produce delicate replicas of the famous artworks.

For film and television business, the exchange platform will enable the transaction of copyright material in film, comics, animation and television.

The Weifang Culture Asset and Equity Exchange Center has set up eight branches in cities nationwide, such as Beijing, Shenzhen and Guangzhou. It has more than 100 marketing specialists and 12 appraisal experts, including Yang Boda, former deputy curator of the Palace Museum in Beijing and president of the Jade Association of the Chinese Cultural Relic Society.

The center has established strategic cooperation relationships with a number of banks, including China Construction Bank and Agricultural Bank of China, to ensure safe and convenient culture and equity trade.

Wang Xianling, deputy Party secretary of Weifang and secretary of Party working committee of Weifang High-Tech Development Zone, and Chu Baojie, head of the city’s department of publicity, attended the ceremony.
