Residents in Tai'an, Shandong province should definitely not miss out the art feast at the Taishan International Convention Center as the venue is home to a large-scale painting and calligraphy art exposition.

Lasting until Sept 24, the event is jointly organized by the Tai'an municipal bureau of culture, radio, television, news and publication, Tai'an Daily and the Tai'an Media Group, while covering an exhibition area of 15,000 square meters.

The expo covers dozens of categories including collectables, sculptures, porcelain and rosewood handicrafts. It gathers more than 1,000 finest calligraphy and paintings by renowned Chinese contemporary and modern artists, including Li Kuchan, Huang Zhou, Fan Zeng, Bai Xueshi, Wang Xuetao and Xie Zhiliu.

Some 20 galleries have also launched a series of art exhibitions during the expo.

"The expo provides a professional platform for art exchanges, and helps promote the host city", said Wu Guanghui, manager of a local gallery.
