Organized by the Shandong provincial department of culture, the Shandong Art Academy and an Angkor-based art museum, an exhibition of Chinese painted fans was recently unveiled in Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodia.

Painting on a small canvas, such as a fan, requires accuracy in composition and is a highly skilled art form. The exhibition collected more than 40 exquisite fans from established Chinese contemporary artists including Kong Weike, Jiang Hongwei, Liu Shujun, Zhao Yingshui and Wang Pande.

"Situated at the eastern coast of China, Shandong has rich cultural heritages with a large population and strong economy. It is one of the birthplaces of ancient Chinese civilization and the hometown of philosophers such as Confucius and Mencius," said Ji.

According to Ji, painting and calligraphy represent the evolution of Chinese culture and the exhibition will offer local residents a real taste of Chinese culture, and help promote cultural exchanges between the two sides.

Khoy Khun Huor said that Cambodia and China share a long history of exchanges and thanked China for its great amount of selfless assistance and support to the country in the past years. He also expressed his hope that Shandong and Kampot will strengthen cooperation in culture and other fields and further cement the friendship.
