The first 2018 Yantai International Beach Marathon was held at the Yantai economic and technological development zone on March 25.

A total of 3,200 running enthusiasts from three Chinese provinces and European countries laced up their sneakers to enjoy running on the beach.

The event included a beach marathon (10 kilometers), beach running (5 kilometers), beach walking (5 kilometers) and a parent-child running activity (1 kilometer).

Hosted by the Yantai Sports Bureau, the marathon offered competitors a chance to admire the beautiful beach landscape with azure blue skies and spectacular seas.

To ensure the event ran smoothly, the organizers made thorough preparations. More than 300 volunteers served runners along the route, handing out supplies and cheering them on.

The Yantai beach marathon aims to add a special element to the runners' normal love of the sport.
