The Weifang branch of the Fifth China Intangible Cultural Heritage Expo will hold its opening ceremony at the Weifang Fuwah International Exhibition Center on Sept 14.

The Weifang sub-venue will be divided into six exhibition areas.

The first exhibition area will include four traditional handicrafts, namely kites, Chinese New Year paintings, peach pit carvings and lacquer art.

The second section will display achievements of traditional craftsmanship workstations in Xinzhou, Shanxi province and training projects of the country's intangible cultural heritage inheritors.

The third exhibition area will showcase the achievements of the Wei Waters Protection Area, a national-level eco-culture region in Weifang, Shandong province, which will provide visitors with a panoramic overview of local intangible cultural heritages, folklore, history and other cultural aspects through exhibits, video works and photography.

Performances of local folk arts and demonstrations of local handicraft-making will also take place to provide visitors with deeper insight into local culture.

The fourth section will display the award-winning works of the 2018 Creative Design Competition as well as those from the previous two sessions.

The fifth section will stage a series of featured ICH performances from across the country, including Chinese martial arts and folk operas.

The sixth section will highlight an experience area, a creative products exhibition and sales.

The Weifang branch of the expo is designed to be an all-round exchange and exhibition platform integrating exhibitions, presentations, and spot sales.

It will fully reflect the inheritance of intangible cultural heritages in the present age, and also help the general public get more in-depth understanding and experience of intangible cultural heritage projects throughout the country.
