More to explore at Shandong cultural fair

More than 1,000 craft pieces created by national and provincial-level arts masters will be exhibited at the eighth Shandong International Cultural Industries Fair, which will be held from Sept 19 to 23 in Jinan, the province's capital.

According to the organizing committee, visitors can appreciate the exquisite crafts at the A1 Hall of the Shandong International Convention Center, involving jade carvings, traditional writing materials, creative jewelry, ceramics, and tea pottery.

Another highlight is that expo will for the first time introduced time-honored gems, jewelry, and gold ornament brands. The world's largest gold ring, which weighs 82.2 kg and possesses 76 sapphires, will be on display.

This year, the cultural fair will also launch a special exhibition area for brush, ink, paper, and inkstone, where enterprises will display traditional writing materials.

Visitors can explore the rich and dazzling porcelain and ceramic products from across the country at the event, as it will gather sancai works from Luoyang, blue and white porcelain from Jingdezhen in Jiangxi province, as well as Jun and Ru porcelain from Yuzhou and Ruzhou in Henan province. It will also include works from the Ding kiln in Quyang in Hebei province, the Ge kiln in Longquan in Zhejiang province, and works using purple sand clay from Yixing in Jiangsu province.

Leading ceramic companies will also showcase their latest products at the fair.

"The value of the cultural fair is not only the dazzling exhibits, the flow of visitors, and the trading volume, but also the vitality and influence of the folk culture," said an official from the organizing committee.

The cultural fair will include 10 exhibition areas in eight halls, with the exhibition area increasing from more than 30,000 square meters last year to over 100,000 square meters this year.
