A job fair was held in the Jiading New City, near Shanghai’s Jiading district, on March 1, attracting 4,000 job-seekers competing for 2,500 posts available from nearly 100 enterprises. Almost 70 percent of the posts were manufacturing-related and the average salary was about 300 to 500 yuan higher than the previous year.
Su Lei, who graduated from college last year but failed to find a satisfactory job, told a reporter, “I have an interest in the traditional manufacturing industry so it is quite a surprise to find so many offers fit for me today.”
According to one staff member of the New City’s labor service office, more enterprises are looking for operation and technology-oriented personnel. In addition to holding such regular job fairs, the labor service office also provides professional training for applicants.
