The Nanye Group, in the city of Changzhi, Shanxi province, has developed a complete industrial chain for the LED industry across China, according to the provincial economy and information technology commission, which made the announcement, on Aug 20.

Work on the LED industry chain began in 2009, with the group bringing in advanced technology and talented personnel from all over the world for nine projects to build the chain. It did its own R&D on the industrial chain, so it has patented the technology for China’s first chain of this kind.

The commission has delivered a report on the provincial LED industry's problems and ways to deal with them for the further development of the LED industry.

The LED (or light emitting diode) is being used for a new type of lighting that is low-energy, pollution–free, and highly durable and is being given national support as a strategic new industry. So, the LED industry chain is capital-intensive, technology-intensive industry that few Shanxi enterprises have ever been close to.
