Hufu wine vessel (zun)

This 24.5-cm-tall, 23.4-cm-in-diameter vessel was unearthed in the village of Dachuan, in 1962. Two were found, both gilded all over, with a lid with a ring in the center and three phoenix–shaped buttons on the edge. The base has three bear-shaped feet and the body has two layers of relief patterns of different animals, including a tiger, goat, camel, cow, monkey, and dragon, reflecting the uninhibited nature of the northern grassland culture and gracefulness of the central plain, and a model work of art and technique for a Han Dynasty bronze.
