The Economic and Technological Development Zone, in Urumqi city, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region put on a concert at its Weitai Building on Jan 8 to celebrate the New Year, attracting more than 400 locals.

Students from the Urumqi Experimental School's chorus performed 19 songs for the audience.
The audience included the civil police, officers and soldiers and sanitation workers.

A sanitation worker called Wang Xinzan said, "I am glad to be invited to the music concert. The social support and care for the sanitation workers inspire me work harder and contribute to a clean city."

The development zone's publicity department organized the concert to express the government's gratitude to local workers such as policemen and sanitation workers and enable more people to enjoy cultural achievements, said Peng Xiaochun, vice director of the department.
