Comment on "The dynamics of climate change" (China Daily, Dec 17)
All countries, especially the developed ones, should fulfill their responsibilities to fight climate change. But since the developed countries achieved industrialization decades, if not centuries, ago and have emitted most of the greenhouse gases that have accumulated in the atmosphere, they should shoulder greater responsibilities.
Besides, given their advanced technology and experience, the developed nations can guide the rest of the world toward a low-carbon, greener future.
And developing countries such as China and India have to balance their economic growth and environment protection, because a large percentage of their populations still live in poverty.
As the article says, countries whose people have not achieved a certain living standard should have the right and opportunity to increase energy use because it's necessary for their development.
