Punish fake goods' makers
Comment on "Fake peanut oil seized from shelves" (China Daily, Jan 5)
To end the production and sale of fake products, the authorities should find effective ways to reduce the margin of profit and increase the cost of production of people involved in such businesses by taking appropriate measures.
The authorities should impose harsh punishments on anybody found guilty of making fake products. They should also not let distributors and sellers go scot-free. The guilty should be imprisoned, their properties confiscated and factories demolished.
The authorities should also make such scandals public immediately, so that people are not duped into buying fake products.

Loss of moral code to blame
Some unscrupulous businesspeople - people who have bid adieu to traditional moral codes - are making the rest of the Chinese people pay a heavy price. Unless we reconstruct the nation's moral code, we will continue to suffer at the hands of a few greedy people.
The authorities should punish the crooks in the strictest way possible to deter others from joining their league.
