Comment on "Recognition of new tobacco tech ignites appeal"(China Daily, April 10)
The so-called "tobacco technologies" are another attempt by the tobacco industry to deceive the public.
The fact is, there is no such a thing as a "safe" cigarette.
Even the so-called low tar and low nicotine cigarettes are harmful to smokers and people around them.
I agree with the scholars' appeal that we must not fall into the tobacco industry's trap. If the industry is given any kind of award, it will take advantage of it to falsely claim that they have produced a "safe" cigarette.
That would be against China's efforts to curb smoking.
