Comment on "Long-term visas needed" (China Daily, June 15)
I have the same problem as the author of the letter. I am also a foreigner; I have been living in China for six years. I love this country. I love my job and working with my Chinese colleagues, as well as Chinese culture, Chinese food and traveling in the country.
Every year I have to extend my visa and I am worried to death to hear one day from the authorities: "Sorry, we cannot extend your visa anymore, you have to go back to Germany." I don't know what I will do that day.
I don't fulfill the current requirements to get a long-term visa, but I hope China will change some of its policies so I can live here as long as I want. Foreigners like me perhaps don't expect social benefit or support from the related authorities, we just want to live here and be happy.
