5. Never give a clock as a present.

Clocks of any type must be avoided because 送鐘 (song zhong) - which means "giving a clock as a present" - sounds like 送終 (song zhong, a funeral ritual). Clocks also symbolize that time is running out – and can be seen as signifying the end of a relationship and of a life.
