Editor’s Note: Smartphones have become so ingrained in our daily lives. It’s difficult for some of us to consider going out about our days without one. Got an addiction to it? Or time to unplug from it? Some forum readers share their opinions. You're welcome to join the discussion.

I’m 35, and I have had a cell phone for two weeks of my life, then I threw it away. The way I look at it is, $100 a month on average for a cell phone. $1,200 a year, $12,000 a decade, $60,000 for the 50 years I could live and own a cell phone.

$60,000 dollars to have a cell phone for a lifetime. No thanks.
