"I published a novel."

Time flies. I always considered ‘a(chǎn) year’ as a relatively long period of time, but when I look back, I realize I didn’t complete many things. I feel time appears to go faster as one gets older. In the first half of 2014, my novel Testament of Gangdise came out, which could be a sort of ‘harvest’ for me and comforted me a little. The story was adapted from my personal experience that has been inside me for many years.

I also put a lot of effort into another work, Patients at Muli County, a special coverage on the living conditions of the patients in a poor county of southwest China’s Sichuan province. The interviews for the coverage took a long time and I didn’t finish them as expected because something new emerged and I needed to dig into it.

Speaking of poverty, I tried to help a patient who was unable to receive proper medical care due to his financial condition. But my help was in vain. I had raised the money for his medical cost but he died when he was taken to a hospital far away from his home.

I always have some expectations at the beginning of a year and this year is no different. First, I hope I can finish the job that I did not finish last year. I also intend to work hard on some other plans, but I won’t be disappointed if I fail to realize my goals because in my eyes the hope is more important than worrying about whether it will come true or not. As I work in traditional media, there must be something uncertain in 2015.
