The 15th China High-Tech Fair kicked off on Saturday in Shenzhen.

Lasting six days, the event has a total exhibition area of about 110,000 square meters and more than 100 exhibitors from over 50 countries and regions. About 3,000 companies will join the fair, introducing over 10,000 projects.

The major theme of this year's fair is "better growth inspired by innovation," showcasing the latest technology and building a platform for exchange between China and overseas.

Wang Chao, vice-minister of commerce of the PRC, said in the opening ceremony that the China High-Tech Fair (CHTF) has become the most influential and significant technology fair in China, promoting the transformation and upgrading of industry and international exchange.

First started in 1999, the CHTF has become the largest and most influential scientific and technological fair in China. It is renowned as “the top technology show in China.”

Steven Joyce, minister of economic development of New Zealand, said that China is an IT port with cutting edge technology. New Zealand can be a fine partner with China.

Eight companies from New Zealand will participate in the event, introducing their latest scientific and technological achievements covering industries such as medical equipment and clean energy.

"I am delighted to bring some of New Zealand’s top technology companies to Shenzhen, a young and creative city," said Joyce.

The CHTF is co-hosted in Shenzhen by 10 ministries and commissions, namely the Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission, and the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government.
