CRH trains start track tests on Chengdu-Kunming railway

The first CRH6F inter-city CRH (China Railway High-Speed) trains started track tests along the Chengdu-Kunming railway on June 17.

The CRH6F was produced by CSR Sifang Co., Ltd., which designed its public transport operation at a speed of 160 kilometers per hour. After four months of testing, the CRH6F is to be put into an operational assessment of 300 thousand kilometers along the Chengdu-Kunming railway. This assessment includes a no-load run of 100 thousand kilometers, a heavy load of 100 thousand kilometers and trial operations carrying passengers for 100 thousand kilometers.

"The CRH6F is particularly suitable for commuting, business, going to school, entertainment and other passenger services in metropolitan areas with radiation working radius of about 100km. The train can operate continuously at a speed of 160km per hour because this CRH can stop at each station," said Ding Sansan, a chief technician with the CSR Sifang Company.

The CRH6F is a new-type of rail transport, which can accomodate a maximum of 2000 passengers. Station stopping times can be shortened because opening or closing the door can be completed within three seconds. The distinguished technologies of fast launch, prompt braking and excellent energy conservation and environmental protection allow the CRH6F to operate normally in some complicated areas.

In a month's time, the CRH6F will go into operational assessment along the Shanghai-Kunming railway and then be put into formal operations along Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen inter-city railway in the Pearl River Delta area.
