Updated: 2015-01-12 17:12

A Chinese wind power giant has signed contracts with the countries of Romania and Serbia, allowing it to put China's first wind machines in operation in Eastern Europe, with almost two dozen 2.5 megawatt machines on the Romanian electric power grid, on Dec 12, as a key part of the Sino-Romanian Mireasa project.

The Goldwind Science & Technology Co also signed a cooperation agreement with Serbia, a week later, to help the country with its first wind power project, the 100-MW-capacity Plandiste, in the northeastern part of the country which is rich in wind resources.

The international wind power developer, which is in the Beijing Economic Technological Development Area, or E-town, has been eyeing the international market for quite some time, and is China's first wind power company to put its products overseas, while still taking care of its main market, in the US and Australia. It has also been active in emerging markets, such as Latin America, Africa, and Asia, and has expended to 20 countries on six continents.
