Tsinghua Unigroup along with its core subsidiaries showcased their latest products at the first Smart China Expo held in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality from Aug 23 to 25.
Themed "Smart Technology: Empowering Economy, Enriching Life", the expo highlights new products, technologies, and models in the global development of big data and intelligent industries.
From chip manufacturer to cloud service provider, Tsinghua Unigroup upends traditional industries with innovation. Located at the booth of Unigroup was a chip wall comprised of over 100 carefully selected chips developed for various scenarios, including System on Chip (SoC), the Internet of Things (IoT), and Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA).

The 3D NAND flash memory chips, in particular, attracted a continuous crowd. Its 32-layer architecture took Yangtze Memory Technologies Co (YMTC), a new NAND player that received investments from Tsinghua Unigroup, two years to develop, with about $1 billion in investment and over 1,000 researchers working on it. The chip is expected to begin mass production in the fourth quarter of 2018.
YMTC also introduced its groundbreaking new technology—Xtacking?, which will provide unprecedented NAND I/O performance, higher bit density, and a shorter time to market. This modular approach also creates spaces for customized flash solutions by integrating innovative functionalities in its periphery.
Guoxin Micro, under Tsinghua Unigroup, is a listed chip production company specializing in ID verification, financial payments, mobile communication, the Internet of Things (IoT), and big data. The company displayed its independently-developed FPGA chip, PGT180H. The exhibit has been widely used in IC cards and embedded ECC.
Unigroup Spreadtrum, a fabless semiconductor company that develops core chip sets for mobile and IoT, shared its highly-integrated LTE solution—Spreadtrum SC9863. With the Octa-core ARM Cortex-A55 CPU architecture, the next-generation product has an AI processing performance six times better than most common products.
Through its intelligent AI algorithm, Spreadtrum SC9863 can achieve real-time context detection recognition, support a 16MP primary camera, and support a 1080P HD video and FHD+ display, simultaneously enhancing the phone's abilities and providing a top-notch user experience.
In terms of its latest R&D progresses, Tsinghua Unigroup presented Pilot-V2, a prototype machine designed for various experiments in 5G or NR scenarios.
The company also showcased a wide spectrum of cloud services for government administration, public security, online finance, medical imaging, and industry internet. Some of these turn-key services, especially those for construction projects and the Internet of Vehicles, are already on trial runs in many cities, including the host city Chongqing.
The first Smart China Expo in Southwest China's Chongqing attracted more than 500 exhibitors from home and abroad, including Tsinghua Holdings, Alibaba, Tencent, Baidu, and Qualcomm, as well as over 100 foreign guests from 28 countries and regions.
UK trade commissioner for China praised Chongqing as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
