Liangjiang New Area in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality is determined to build its coordinated innovation zone into a cradle for creativity and progress.

This determination is demonstrated by the new auto type issued by Lifan Technology Co and the AI industry base invested by Baidu, which highlight Liangjiang's strives toward technological innovation.

Liangjiang coordinated innovation zone pays special attention to turning research results into commercial products. Northwestern Polytechnical University has established its innovation center in the zone, and five of its open R&D labs were recently put into use.

In addition to the center, the zone is cooperating with technology-focused entities, quickening its establishment of the laboratory mechanism and collecting more innovation resources. A total of 35 top-notch universities, research centers and institutions and innovation teams have set up branches there.

China's Mars probe Tianwen-1 landed successfully on Mars on May 15, leaving China's first-ever tracks on the red planet. Universities that made significant contributions to the project, including the Beijing Institute of Technology and Harbin Institute of Technology, have already based part of their research teams in the zone.

Wang Fei, president of Liangjiang coordinated development innovation zone, said a batch of major national labs and innovation centers will be built in the zone, centering on areas such as aerospace, new energy, high-end equipment and new materials.

The zone is reportedly striving to become a place where the chains of supply, industry and innovation are deeply integrated, and where innovation resources owned by top research institutions can be shared.

Another highlight of the zone lies in its intention to promote innovation in conjunction with natural beauty. Mingyue Lake and its 16 small scenic spots have attracted more than 1,000 outstanding personnel to work in the zone.

Covering an area of approximately 30 square kilometers, the zone has attracted 12 academicians and 400 doctors with engineering degrees, and has established 15 major provincial R&D labs and 12 national or municipal postdoctoral research stations in less than two years.
