During the National Day holiday, when people usually reunite with family and friends and celebrate the founding of China, He Lincai, production director of Chongqing Alpha and Omega Semiconductor Ltd, did not rest. He continued working during the festival to ensure the production of chips, which are playing a significant role in many manufacturing sectors across China.
Electronic information is Chongqing's pillar industry. Statistics show that during the first eight months of this year, the?number of?exported laptop computers?produced?in the municipality?was 51.86 million, an increase of 32.2 percent year-on-year and accounting for 36.3 percent of China's total laptop computer exports, ranking first in the nation.
Over the same period, Chongqing's exports and imports came at 507.68 billion yuan ($76.15 billion), up 29.4 percent. The growth rate was higher than the national average by 5.7 percentage points.
By issuing a slew of proposals, work plans, and reforms on improving the business environment, Chongqing has rolled out more than 120 policies in recent years to support enterprises, and has eliminated over 100 billion yuan in financial burdens for them, which has largely strengthened local companies' sense of gain.
Another piece of good news during the seven-day holiday is that from?January to September this year,?Chongqing has cumulatively launched 1,493 sea-rail freight trains of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, a year-on-year surge of 77 percent.
Routes of the corridor are now capable of reaching 308 ports in 106 countries and regions around the world, and more than 640 commodities, including Ukraine's maize, Brazil's paper, Chongqing's motorcycle spare parts, and Gansu's herbs, are being shipped in and out of China.
UK trade commissioner for China praised Chongqing as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
