Siming district of Xiamen signed 65 agreements for projects worth a combined total of about 86 billion yuan ($12.6 billion) at the China International Fair for Investment & Trade (CIFIT) in Xiamen, Fujian province, on Sept 8.
The number of projects and amount of investment showed a steady increase thanks to the robust business environment in Siming district.
The newly-signed projects focus on finance, new energy, biomedicine, health, software, artificial intelligence, high-end professional services, cultural tourism, and film and television. The investors included several Fortune 500 companies and State-owned enterprises.
From January to August this year, a total of 955 projects were introduced to Siming district despite the COVID-19 pandemic, receiving a total of 272.4 billion yuan in investment. The number of landed projects reached 434, 7.23 times more than last year.
In March, Didi Chuxing, China’s largest ride-hailing platform, agreed to build its subsidiary in Siming district in order to expand its internet car business.
“We want to cooperate with Xiamen to build a pilot city for car-sharing and promote smart transportation in Xiamen,” said a high-level employee of Didi Chuxing, adding that Siming offered high-quality services to promote cooperation.
