"Did I break the record? I did not realize that. I just thought about winning, not the record," said Lee.

Lee clocked three minutes and 44.209 seconds to break the Games ' record of 3:46.523, set up by Zhao HaiJuan of China in Busan Asiad in 2002.

Lee, the 2006 Asian championships gold medalist, will compete with Chinese pursuit specialist Li Meifang in the final.

"Of course, She is a strong opponent, but right now, what I need to do is to relax and be prepared for tomorrow's race," added Lee.

Li Meifang won the women's road individual time trial five days ago in Doha and was placed second in the qualifying stage of the women's 3km individual pursuit on Sunday.
