Ding Junhui knocked out by 18-year-old James Cahill at York

(CRI) Updated: 2014-12-04 09:06

World number 3 Ding Junhui has been sent crashing down by Stephen Hendry's 18-year-old nephew James Cahill at the UK championship in York.

Ding opened the match with a superb century break of 134 before being blown away by his 100-ranked opponent in the next five frames.

The Chinese ace then rallied a comeback to pull level with Cahill at 5-5.

But Cahill then charged to secure the biggest win of his career in the deciding frame, downing Ding 6-5.

Ding's exit from the third round means Marco Fu of Hong Kong is left as the only Chinese player in the competition.

Marco Fu booked his place in the last 16 after knocking out Thailand's number one Dechewat Poomjaeng 6-3.

In other third round action, it was five time world champion Ronnie O'Sullivan easing past Ben Woollaston 6-2.

Defending champion Neil Robertson overcame Peter Ebdon with the same score.

Scotsman Graeme Dott whitewashed Englishman Robert Milkins 6-0.

And Stephen Maguire, another Scot, walked away with a third round rout of Mark Williams 6-2.
