It's the time of the year when people flock to the Eastern Chinese city of Lianyungang, Jiangsu province, to have a glimpse of the unique scene of a "red sea".

The stunning landscape is caused by Suaeda glauca - a kind of seagrass - which turns a vivid red in autumn, spanning over the seashore marshland.

The seagrass is not only ornamental but also a popular local food and is a good source of protein, amino acids and vitamins.
