Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Ri Yong-ho, his counterpart from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), on Monday in Vientiane, Laos.

This is the first official meeting with his Chinese counterpart after the DPRK minister assumed his current post earlier this year.

They were meeting on the sidelines of the ongoing annual ASEAN Foreign Ministers' meeting.

Prior to the two-way meeting, Wang attended the China-ASEAN foreign ministers meeting in the morning.
