Celebrities pay tribute to Ariana Grande concert victims

Numerous celebrities worldwide shared their condolences with victims of the Manchester bombing which claimed 22 lives and injured a further 59 people at an Ariana Grande concert on Monday night.

Grande herself took to Twitter early Tuesday morning to say she was "broken" by the events.

"From the bottom of my heart, I am so, so sorry. I don't have words," the singer wrote.

US pop stars including Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift all payed tribute to the victims on Twitter.

US singer Nicki Minaj, who has collaborated with Grande, wrote: "My heart hurts for my sister, Ariana, and every family affected by this tragic event in the U.K."

British singer Jessie J, who has also worked with Grande, sent her thoughts and prayers to "everyone in Manchester."

"What happened in Manchester last night was targeting innocent people," she wrote on Instagram. "Innocent lives that just wanted to enjoy a night to dance and sing and forget their worries."

Other British musicians including Sam Smith, Ellie Goulding, Gary Barlow and the members of pop group One Direction all paid their respects.

Liam Gallagher, former frontman of Manchester-based band Oasis, wrote on Twitter: "In total shock and absolutely devastated about what's gone down in Manchester. Sending love and light to all the families involved."

Current and former Manchester United soccer stars including Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand and David Beckham shared their sympathies with the victims.

Beckham wrote on Instagram: "Heartbreaking news from Manchester. As a father and a human what has happened truly saddens me. My thoughts are with all of those that have been affected by this tragedy."
