According to Joseph Maina, a member of County Assembly (MCA), Mugunda Ward, which also covers the Kiawara area, the Chinese contractor is executing his work at a fast speed compared to the local contractor.

"We are grateful to what CMEC is doing and it's now evident that the Kiawara to Nairutia road may be complete before the schedule," he says.

Maina adds that they are grateful that CMEC had employed many local people contrary to the common misconception that Chinese contractors import labor from China.

Joshua Gathua, a local resident, also praised the speed at which CMEC is constructing the road, noting that farmers in Kieni constituency will be able to transport their farm produce faster, conveniently and at a cheaper cost once the road is complete.
