Time-honored textile crafts of the various Chinese ethnic groups constitute an important part of the country's rich cultural heritage. The techniques and patterns differ from region to region, and modern artists and researchers have made great efforts to collect, preserve and recreate them.
A display of more than 1,400 textile objects in Beijing is celebrating people's endeavors in the revival of traditional handicraft, many of which are endangered skills.
Held at Yongyuan, a cultural compound transformed from an old, unused factory, the show runs through July 15 and brings together costumes, scarfs, tapestries and decorations that represent textile skills from across the country.
