Matthew Barney: Redoubt
Matthew Barney, one of the most celebrated and versatile living artists, is holding his China solo, Redoubt at the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing, 12 years after his seminal and breakthrough Cremaster Cycle was showcased at Art in America: 300 Years of Innovation, the largest-ever exhibition of American art at the National Art Museum.
Redoubt, a major new body of work created between 2016 and 2019, features five monumental sculptures and more than 50 engravings and electroplated plates.
The artist's solo also highlights an eponymous feature-length film, tracing a wolf hunt in Idaho's snowy Sawtooth Mountain range.
