The special version of the mascot consists of Bing Dwen Dwen wearing a golden wreath made of soft material and is presented to athletes together with hand-knitted wool bouquets during the victory ceremonies.

To minimize the risk of COVID-19 infection, athletes attending the evening medal ceremonies have to wear masks before stepping onto the stage and after the proceedings have finished. They are allowed to take the masks off briefly while receiving their medals and during national anthems.

Ordinary spectators not in the Game's closed loop are allowed access to cheer for the athletes at the medal plazas from a safe distance away and must follow strict COVID-19 prevention protocols before visiting the site, according to Gao.
