Hospital becomes testing center for graduate
A hospital is an unusual setting for an examination — not a medical exam but one for postgraduate college admission.
Sun Mingxu, 22, completed his admissions test in a makeshift hospital in Changchun, Jilin province, where he was being treated for COVID-19. Six days later, he got the news that he had been admitted to Wuhan University in Hubei province for postgraduate studies in electronic information.
"I found the exam result on the website of Wuhan University on Tuesday," Sun said. "I had been discharged from the hospital after recovery, and I wanted to express my gratitude to the medical workers who helped me."
Sun was transported to the hospital — set up at the Changchun International Exhibition Center on March 18 — after testing positive for the coronavirus.
"At first I felt quite anxious about the coming exam because of the noisy environment and the night-light," he said. "I tried to adjust my mind and ask for help from the medical workers."
Sun received the support he needed. He was moved to a bed in a relatively quiet corner.
"Some doctors from Second Hospital of Jilin University who were also graduate student tutors gave me lots of useful advice and guidance," he said.
