At 32° N latitude, the Dabie Mountains region, with a high latitude and altitude, produces Xinyang Mao Jian tea, which has a full-bodied flavor and a long-lasting aroma. Su Dongpo, a great literati of the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127), once commended that "Xinyang tea ranks No. 1 among those in the Huainan region".
Generations of tea makers in Xinyang city of Henan province have inherited and carried forward the techniques of growing, picking and frying Mao Jian tea for thousands of years. Though the production process of Xinyang Maojian tea has been innovated nowadays, what was handed down from ancient times remains the same.
