With the 25th Shanghai International Film Festival closing its curtains on Sunday, it's time for the TV dramas to grab the limelight as the 28th Shanghai TV Festival opened on Monday.

Founded in 1986, the festival, which is set to run from June 19 to 23 this year, has been committed to promoting the development of the country's domestic television industry as well as facilitating international TV cultural exchanges.

Recognized as one of the most important international TV exchange platforms in Asia, the Shanghai TV Festival's Magnolia Awards, which are named after the floral emblem of this eastern Chinese metropolis, remain the highlight of the event.

In this year's edition, wide-ranging, highly-acclaimed stories from over 49 countries and regions from across the globe fill the list of around 1,900 entries vying for the prestigious Magnolia Awards, with the winners due to be announced on June 23.

Serving as the perfect stage for television professionals, the festival also involves a series of forums and masterclasses aimed at provoking high-quality, in-depth discussions on some of the most up-to-date topics in the industry.
