TV show focuses on spectacle of business
As a popular TV show following the founders of small and medium-sized enterprises, the second season of Zhuan Jing Te Xin Yan Jiu Yuan (Specialized and Sophisticated SME Research Institution) has recently concluded its first run on Beijing Satellite TV, amassing over 6 million views and 1.1 billion clicks on related topics on major social platforms, including Sina Weibo.
With influential industry insiders such as Dong Mingzhu, the chairwoman of Gree Electric Appliances, the program features 12 specialized and sophisticated SMEs in fields from information technology and integrated circuits to pharmaceuticals.
Li Jie, the host, says that it took just 48 hours of brainstorming to come up with the program after being entrusted with the task last year, despite the team lacking experience in the topic.
During a seminar in Beijing earlier this week, Li revealed that the crew worked intensively, traveling to seven cities in six days to follow the busy entrepreneurs.
Each episode generally involved following the founder for at least two months, accumulating around 500 hours of footage, Li added.
Huo Xuewen, chairman of the Bank of Beijing, said that the show has earned social recognition for specialized and sophisticated SMEs, boosting support from investors and local governments.
