With the increasing adoption of environmental friendly travel, a growing number of Beijing residents are opting for new energy vehicles as their primary way for going out in the city and the establishment of supercharging stations has become an important support in ensuring residents receive a sustainable living experience.

The Beijing Public Transport Group has leveraged the peripheries of bus stations and roadside areas to establish supercharging stations, offering "15-minute" supercharging services for the city's new energy vehicle users.

Situated in Fengtai district, Beijing, the Muxiyuan supercharging station features four supercharging devices, each capable of delivering a maximum charging capacity of 240 kilowatts, 1,000 volts, epitomizing the concept of "15-minute charging, 400 kilometers traveling".

"This station sees an average of over 100 vehicle charges daily, consuming more than 2,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity, underscoring the substantial demand," said Xin Tao, general manager of Longrui Sanyou Co, operator of the Muxiyuan supercharging station.

"Commencing early in 2024, we initiated the procurement of green electricity, basically realizing the 'zero carbon' objective by powering new energy vehicles with eco-friendly electricity," Xin added.

Moreover, the station is furnished with service centers to offer car owners a cozy resting environment.

"During the charging intervals, drivers can enjoy drinks and read books on the big cozy sofa in the service center. Meanwhile, snack vending machines are available for people's convenience," Xin said.

Since the end of June last year, a total of 35 supercharging stations have commenced operations in Beijing's urban zones, catering to 400,000 vehicle charges and surpassing 9 million kilowatt-hours of electricity. These 35 stations can service over 1,500 vehicles daily, with a daily charging capacity of 35,000 kilowatt-hours, according to the group.

"It is projected that by the end of this year, the count of supercharging stations will reach 50, with expectations to hit 100 next year, ensuring sustainable and green travel for residents," Xin said.
