Some 500 films and photos about intangible cultural heritage are on display at the 2024 intangible cultural heritage film and photo exhibition, which opened in Kaihua county in Zhejiang province's Quzhou city on Wednesday.

They cover a range of ICH domains, including traditional handicrafts, performing arts, and ritual celebrations from 22 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, among them Zhejiang, Shanxi, Henan, Guangdong, Chongqing, and Gansu.

The exhibition is hosted by the Center for Ethnic and Folk Literature and Art Development under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Zhejiang provincial department of culture, radio, film and television, and tourism, and the Quzhou government. Nearly 100 participants, including experts and scholars in the field of intangible cultural heritage imagery, representatives of imaging creation teams, and inheritors of ICH traditions were present at the opening ceremony for the exhibition, which will run until Friday.

According to the organizers, the event seeks to showcase China's achievements in intangible cultural heritage preservation since it joined the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage 20 years ago, and to promote recent outstanding works of intangible cultural heritage imagery from across the country, summarize experiences, and present the concepts of intangible cultural heritage preservation.
