This year commemorates the 60th anniversary of China's first nuclear test. In October 1964, the resounding detonation of the country's first atomic bomb above Lop Nur in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region of Northwest China marked a significant milestone for Chinese researchers in defense technology. Recently, China Daily reporter Zhao Lei visited former top-secret locations where China developed and tested its nuclear arsenal. Let's now explore what he encountered during his visit.
