Wild boar kills woman in her yard in Shaanxi
A wild boar attacked and killed a 76-year-old woman in Langao county, Ankang city, Shaanxi province, after being chased into her yard by hunting dogs, according to a statement from the county government on Tuesday.
According to the preliminary findings from an investigation team organized by the county government, four boar hunters and their dogs had been hunting wild boars in the mountains on Sunday morning in response to them causing severe damage to local crops. The dogs chased one boar into a woman's yard, and it attacked her.
The victim's family has reached a settlement agreement with the hunting team, the statement said.
In response, the county has intensified efforts to monitor wild boar threats by conducting research on population management. It also plans to organize controlled hunting operations in a bid to mitigate relevant risks and reduce potential damage.
