The Global University-affiliated Think Tank Network was officially launched at Peking University on Wednesday, aiming to foster exchange among academic institutions worldwide.

Djoomart Otorbaev, former prime minister of Kyrgyzstan, emphasized the importance of cultivating global talent in his speech delivered at the opening ceremony. "Global talents are becoming increasingly important in the competition of the 21st century," he said.

The Global Conference on University-affiliated Think Tanks, hosted by Peking University, was held in Beijing on Wednesday and Thursday. The two-day event brought together experts and scholars from universities and research institutions worldwide to explore innovative approaches to global development and governance.

"Theoretical research is the cornerstone of innovation," said Liu Wei, deputy director of the department of policy planning at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. "This conference offers a platform to exchange ideas on the Global Development, Security, and Civilization initiatives."

The project of the Planetary Health Axis System(PHAS) led by the university's institute for global health and development and the global people-to-people exchange index led by the university's institute for global cooperation and understanding were presented at the conference.
