Li calls for enhancing logistics sector
Premier says China committed to fostering growth of foreign enterprises
Premier Li Qiang has called for accelerating the construction of an international logistics service system and actively developing intermodal transportation to enhance international transport capabilities, in order to effectively support the development of foreign trade and high-level opening-up.
During his visit to Jiaxing, one stop in his inspection tour of Zhejiang province from Wednesday to Friday, Li also reiterated China's commitment to valuing the development of foreign enterprises in the country.
He said China is committed to steadily expanding opening-up in more sectors, strengthening service safeguards, and supporting fair competition between domestic and foreign enterprises on a level playing field.
He expressed the hope that more foreign companies will expand their presence in China and share development opportunities.
The three-day inspection tour also took the premier to Hangzhou and Shaoxing, where he learned about local developments in technological innovation and economic dynamics.
Li highlighted the importance of implementing the guiding principles of the Central Economic Work Conference, a key tone-setting meeting held recently to lay out policy priorities for the country's economic work next year. He urged firming up confidence to strive for new achievements in high-quality development.
In Hangzhou, Li visited a science innovation center and a national laboratory. He emphasized that innovation serves as the primary driving force for development, urging proactive engagement with technological advancements, intensified basic and key technology researches, and the establishment of new infrastructure like computing power to achieve more original and leading outcomes in science and technology.
He underlined the need to strengthen the leading role of enterprises in innovation, create a favorable innovation ecosystem, accelerate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements into industrial applications, and promote the integrated development of technological and industrial innovation.
In Shaoxing, Li visited the Zhejiang Provincial Innovation Center of Advanced Textile Technology and the United Nova Technology Co Ltd, learning about the transformation and upgrading of the textile industry as well as advancements in integrated circuit technologies.
He highlighted support for increased research and development investment by enterprises, and called for efforts to foster emerging and future industries to create new growth drivers.
During the inspection tour, Li held a symposium attended by business executives in Zhejiang. He encouraged enterprises to contribute to promoting high-quality development and stabilizing employment.
He also urged governments at all levels to continuously improve the business environment, implement supportive policies for enterprises, actively help address their concerns and better support their development.
