China's top court has directed courts nationwide to strengthen efforts to solve disputes involving senior citizens, in order to respond to issues in an aging society and promote the elderly's sense of fulfillment, happiness, and security.

The obligation was raised by the Supreme People's Court on Tuesday with the disclosure of six concluded cases related to senior citizens.

While preventing children from unreasonably interfering with their older parents in dealing with assets by rule of law, the top court has also shown how Chinese judges encouraged internet platforms to give old users easier access to online services through mediation by explaining the cases.

In addition, the top court made clarifications for the cases that stepchildren should pay living expenses to their stepparents who have raised, cared for, and educated them.

Greater efforts will be made in handling disputes involving senior residents, so that the legitimate rights and interests of the elderly can be upheld and a senior friendly society can be created, the top court added.
