Victims of the earthquake in Dingri county, Xizang autonomous region, have moved into the more than 3,500 newly-assembled temporary houses, according to state broadcaster CCTV.

On Jan 7, a 6.8-magnitude earthquake hit Dingri, home to the northern base camp of the world's highest peak, Mount Qomolangma, claiming 126 lives.

According to the earthquake relief headquarters of Shigatse city, they have allocated all available resources and efforts to install the temporary boarding houses. Compared with tents, these temporary houses offer better sealing and thermal insulation, making them resistant to fire, wind and earthquakes.

The current main task is to help the disaster-affected people to live in temporary houses as soon as possible, Zhou Yufeng, an official of the headquarters, was quoted as saying by CCTV.

"It is estimated that around 13,000 sets of temporary mobile houses are needed," said Zhou, adding that this figure will be dynamically adjusted as information is gathered.

They have also provided stoves and heaters with the help of donations.
