The airlines' fuel surcharge fees in China are expected to be cut by 10 yuan ($1.61) in December, the Beijing News reported on Tuesday.
The dutiable CIF price of Singapore jet fuel decreased 326 yuan per metric ton from last month to 7,476 yuan per ton, according to a report from SCI, a commodities information provider.
In accordance with the linkage mechanism between fuel surcharges and aviation fuel prices issued by the National Development and Reform Commission in November 2011, if decreases in fuel prices exceed 250 yuan per ton there will be downgrade adjustments.
Since August 2011, the aviation industry has gradually started to adopt market-fixed ex-factory prices for aviation kerosene, which are adjusted once a month.
